Types in Genesis
Noah’s Ark as a Type of Deliverance
In the Ark we see the Deliverance YAHWEH has provided for us in MESSIAH.
Gen.6:5; Gen.6:7. And YAHWEH saw that the wickedness of man -- great in the land … YAHWEH said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the land; 2Pe.3:6. the world which then existed was destroyed by a deluge of water. |
2Pe.3:7; 2Pe.3:11. But the heavens and the land that now are (by the same LOGOS) -- are treasured up -- guarded to fire to the day of judgment and ruin of irreverent humanity.…. Since all these things thus being dissolved in this manner what sort of people must we be… |
Gen.6:1-22. The Ark was ELOHIM’s plan, it had to be made according to His measure. |
Rom.3:24-25. “The redemption” that is in MESSIAH Jesus is also ELOHIM’s plan; for the next verse says, “whom ELOHIM has set forth a mercy-seat, through faith in His blood,” |
The Ark was a place of safety. |
Heb.6:18. who have fled for refuge to lay hold on the expectation set before us, |
The Ark bore the storm of judgment. |
Psa.69:2. I have come into deep waters, and the flood sweeps over me. Psa.42:7. All Your breakers and Your billows, they pass over me.

The Ark had to be entered by the Door. |
Joh.10:9. Jesus said, “I am the Door. Through Me if anyone should be entering, he shall be delivered.” |
Melchisedec as a Type of MESSIAH
Melchizedek--Sovereign of Righteousness |
A Sovereign shall reign in righteousness, Isa.32:1. |
Sovereign of Salem--Sovereign of Peace |
His name shall be called … Potentate of Peace, Isa.9:6-7. |
Sovereign and Priest |
He shall sit and rule on His throne, and shall be a Priest, Zec.6:13 (Both offices united only in MESSIAH). |
Made like the Son of ELOHIM, Heb.7:3. |
A Great High Priest that is passed into the heavens, Jesus, the Son of ELOHIM, Heb.4:14. |
Having neither beginning of days nor end of life, Heb.7:3. |
He ever lives to make intercession, Heb.7:26. |
Abides a priest, Heb.7:3. |
But this man, because He continues, has an unchangeable priesthood, Heb.7:24. |
Met Abraham after his victory, refreshed him with bread and wine, and blessed him, Gen.14:18. |
So MESSIAH draws near to us, and gives us communion with Himself after times of conflict in which He has given us the victory. |
In the offering of Isaac we have one of the most perfect pictures of the great sacrifice offered at Golgotha that we find in all Scripture.

Gen.22:6. And they went both of them together. |
Joh.10:17-18. so does my Father love Me, because I lay down My soul, that I might take it again. 10:18 No one takes it away from me, but I lay it down of my own free will.….This commandment I received from my Father. |
Gen.22:7. where is the lamb for the burnt offering? |
Joh.1:29. See, the Lamb of ELOHIM, who is taking away the sin of the world. |
Gen.22:8. ELOHIM will provide Himself with the lamb |
Rev.13:8. the Lamb slain because of the disintegration of the inhabitants. |
Gen.22:8. And they went both of them together. |
Psa.40:8. I delight to do your desire, My ELOHIM. |
Gen.22:9. Abraham built an altar there, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar on the wood. |
Act.2:23. this One given by the before-determined purpose and foreknowledge of ELOHIM Isa.53:6. and YAHWEH has made to rush on Him the sin offering of us all. |
Gen.22:10. And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. |
Isa.53:10. Yet YAHWEH desires to crush Him, and He causes Him to be wounded. |
Gen.22:11. And the messenger of YAHWEH called to him out of heaven |
Contrast. (No voice from heaven.) Mat.26:53-54; Mat.27:42. He delivered others; Himself He cannot deliver. |
Gen.22:12. you have not withheld your son, your only son from |
Jer.6:26. (When God speaks of deep grief He compares it to the loss of an only son.) |
Gen.22:13. Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the position of his son. |
Isa.53:7; Isa.53:11. brought as a lamb to the slaughter …. He shall carry their iniquities.
